We use a select number of local accommodation service providers to secure the bookings and ensure that you have an enjoyable stay during your time in Transylvania. The general standard of accommodation varies somewhat between the locations, but all rooms/cabins/chalets/houses that we use for the tours have bed linen, towels, private bathrooms and clothes washing facilities. You will also have access to bike cleaning and maintenance equipment on a daily basis. Wifi is generally available, but cannot be guaranteed.
Under normal circumstances we always keep the group together in one place of accommodation. However, we reserve the right to book people into alternate accommodation should an extraordinary situation present itself.
Our tours do not include insurance cover for you or your equipment. We strongly recommend that you organise your own sport/adventure travel insurance prior to departing your place of residence. If you are from a European Union country, we also recommend that you organise a European Health Insurance Card (https://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?catId=559&langId=en). Your safety and well-being is our priority, and we will look after you to the best of our ability, but you are participating in all activities at your own risk and at the beginning of the tour we will ask you to sign a document stating this fact. MTB Cycle Tours does not assume any liability for injury or worse to riders, or loss/damage to any equipment or personal belongings.
We have completed a risk management process to identify, analyse and treat all relevant risks as far as reasonably practicable. However, Transylvania is known for its beautiful but sometimes remote and untouched wilderness, which of course comes with its set of risks. Furthermore, there are a number of other factors contributing to the overall risk profile. Here is a list of key risks and also the controls that we have implemented to treat the risks as effectively as practicable.
Riding accidents or medical emergencies during the rides
– Basic First Aid kit
– Basic First Aid Awareness session provided to the group prior to commencing the tour
– Trained and experienced guides
– Animal deterrent equipment
– Basic Wildlife/Animal Awareness & Training session provided to the group prior to commencing the tour
Road traffic accidents whilst traveling by car
– Using a well maintained, regularly serviced and otherwise roadworthy car
– Vehicle pre-start checks (daily)
Unfortunately, we have no control over the weather. We will endeavor to ride in all weather conditions, but we reserve the right to adjust the plan as required by, for example, delaying, rerouting or cancelling the day’s ride to manage the risks accordingly.
