Advanced MTB+ / training & Race
This tour combines recreational riding in beautiful scenery with a more training-based approach. We will cover the challenging Hargita Mountain, a few spectacular parts of the Eastern Carpathian mountain range and spend a day riding single track through some beautiful deciduous forests in the old Saxon lands.
The tour is well suited for those who are currently racing XC on hobby/intermediate level or would like to get into XC racing in the future.
We generally ‘keep the pace up’ and at times we cycle in quite challenging terrain. On a few occasions over the 6 days we will be required to push/carry the bikes, but these sections are rare and kept to a minimum.
This category of tour will require you to have an above-average level of endurance and general fitness, good technical riding skills and be able to be on the bike for around 4 hours of active riding in average per day.
As always, we will continuously gauge the ability and status of the group along the way and adjust things accordingly to ensure you all have a great time!

On this tour we aim to ride with specific training goals in mind each day, including aspects of power, speed and technique. We also cover the basics of what to do off the bike to minimize the risk of pains and injuries, including walking you through a useful mobility and stretching program. For those who want, there is an opportunity to participate in either of the XC marathon race events mentioned above. We will take care of all the admin and logistics, all you have to do is enjoy the race! These are great events that we highly recommend!
We have chosen not to describe our rides in detail with information such as specific routes, distances, elevations, technical difficulty levels etc. There are many factors at play when heading into the Transylvanian nature to cycle and based on the conditions on the day we will choose the most suitable area and route. Our main goal is to ensure that you have an awesome time with us. Therefore, we might make various adjustments to the tour along the way to manage relevant risks effectively and provide you with the best experience possible.
In general, we don’t ride the same route twice during the tour. In other words, we always do our very best to ensure that you get to see and experience new places and scenery each day.
Our MTB rides are predominantly Cross Country (XC) focused, but there are several sections along the various routes that offer more trail-oriented riding. There are also some enduro-type tracks in the area and depending on the wishes of the group, we will ride more or less of these sections throughout the days.
The terrain around these parts is generally very undulating and we’re not going to lie, there is quite a bit of climbing involved. However, we believe the rewards easily outweigh the momentary struggles, with amazing views and exhilarating descents. We can almost guarantee that you will be left with great memories, better endurance and stronger legs🙂!
There will be plenty of opportunities for those who want to push themselves beyond the general pace of the group. There will also be suitable options for those who want to take it a bit easy on the day, for whatever reason.
We have a maximum number of 8 participants per group on our standard tours, excluding the guide/guides. This is due to both safety and logistical reasons, as well as to the general dynamic and nature of off-road group cycling.
